An annual tradition at the Nieman Tree Farm is the opening of our "choose-and-cut"
Christmas tree season on the Friday following Thanksgiving.
Visiting our Christmas tree farm, where you choose and cut your own tree, is a memorable
experience.
Select and Cut Christmas Trees
- We have great selection of Fraser Fir and Douglas Fir available to cut, including a few
Colorado Blue Spruce
- Sizes range from table top to 12 feet and up.
- As far as we know, we have the only locally grown Fraser Fir.
- We do not sell pre-cut trees. Do not be misled by other claims.
- We will gladly cut and load your tree for you – you just need to select it.
- You are welcome to cut your own tree if you wish – we will tie it up, provide a saw, and
load it.
Pre-Tagging Service – many of our customers do this
- You are invited to come to our farm in October and November, when the weather is still
pleasant, to select your tree
- We will tag it and cut it just prior to the date you select to pick it up.

Balled and Burlapped Trees – to plant in your yard after Christmas

- Because we want the tree to be as fresh as possible for Christmas, we do not dig any
tree until it is selected. When the tree is ready you can then pick it up.
Caring for your tree
- Christmas trees should be clean, healthy, well-shaped and straight near the bottom.
They should have pliable needles, a strong fragrance and good color.
- If you buy your tree several days before it is to be decorated, we advise storing it
outside in the shade or in an unheated garage.
- Place the tree in water as soon as possible because water is crucial for keeping the
tree fresh.
- Keep the tree in water, and refill the container daily, keeping in mind that some trees
may absorb as much as two quarts a day.
